The sign-in code doesn’t arrive

The sign-in code always goes to your account email — even if you typed your username or phone number. Check your spam folder, wait a minute and request a new one; if that doesn't help, sign in with your password.

The sign-in code always goes to your account email — even if you typed your username or phone number. Check your spam folder, wait a minute and request a new one; if that doesn’t help, sign in with your password.

The email arrives with the subject “Your Bookly login code”. It contains a 4-digit code that’s valid for 5 minutes.

What to do

  1. Look in your spam folder — code emails sometimes end up there.
  2. Make sure you’re checking the inbox of the right Bookly account. Even if you entered a username or phone number on the sign-in page, the code arrives by email at your account address, not by SMS.
  3. Wait a minute and click “Send the code again”. You can request a new code no sooner than 60 seconds after the previous one.
  4. Still nothing? Go back and sign in with your password. Your password always works, even when code sign-in is locked.

Emails with sign-in and password reset codes are always sent: you can’t turn them off in the notification settings.

If something goes wrong

No email at all

  • There’s no account with these details. Then no email is sent, but the screen looks exactly the same — so nobody can find out who has a Bookly account. Check what you typed, or sign up.
  • You’ve hit the limit. You can request up to 3 codes an hour and 10 a day. Beyond that the screen still looks normal, but no email goes out. Wait a while or sign in with your password.

“If you cannot find it, check your Spam folder.”

Bookly shows this hint on the code screen. If you find the email in spam, mark it as “Not spam” so the next codes land in your inbox.

“This code is invalid or has expired.”

A code is valid for 5 minutes and allows 3 tries — after that it stops working. Request a new code and use the digits from the latest email. After 6 wrong codes within a day, Bookly temporarily locks code sign-in — see the article about that lock.

Codes for a new email address or a staff invitation

When you change your account email, the code goes to the new address, not the old one. An employee joining a salon through an invitation link gets an invitation code at their own email. One address gets up to 10 such codes a day — beyond that, no email is sent; see Employee invitation errors.

  • Too many attempts: why Bookly asks you to wait

After several mistakes in a row, Bookly briefly slows down sign-in, and the message on the screen tells you how long to wait. The pause always ends on its own, and the right password resets the count.

  • Code sign-in is temporarily locked

After 6 wrong codes within a day, Bookly locks code sign-in: first for an hour, the second time for a day. Your password works as usual, and signing in with it lifts the lock straight away.
