Too many attempts: why Bookly asks you to wait

After several mistakes in a row, Bookly briefly slows down sign-in, and the message on the screen tells you how long to wait. The pause always ends on its own, and the right password resets the count.

Your account isn’t blocked: this is how Bookly protects it from password guessing. You don’t need to contact support for the pause to end.

What to do

  1. Wait until the pause is over — the message itself shows how many seconds are left.
  2. Type your password carefully: check the keyboard language and Caps Lock.
  3. Don’t remember the password? Don’t guess. Click “Forgot your password or username?” and set a new one.
  4. Getting the email code wrong? Request a new code or sign in with your password.

If something goes wrong

“Too many attempts. Please try again in … seconds.”

This is how Bookly slows down password sign-in after mistakes. The first 5 mistakes from one internet address don’t cause a pause; after that the pause grows, but never beyond 5 minutes. If the password is being entered from different addresses, there’s a pause of up to a minute after 20 mistakes. The mistake count lasts an hour, and the right password resets it straight away.

“Too many failed attempts. Please try again later.”

You can enter an email code wrong 3 times — after that it no longer works. Request a new code or sign in with your password. After 6 wrong codes within a day, Bookly temporarily locks code sign-in — see the article about that lock.

“This code is already being checked. Wait a second and try again.”

Your previous try with this code is still being checked. Wait a second and click again.

“Too many failed attempts. Please sign in again.”

This is the two-factor authentication (2FA) code step: each code entry allows 5 tries. Start signing in again — your password or email code first, then a fresh 2FA code.

In the SMS code settings, a similar message reads “Too many attempts. Please wait a little and try again.” — wait and try again. The SMS limits are described in the article about SMS codes.

“The time to enter the code has run out. Please sign in again.”

You have 5 minutes for the 2FA code step. Start signing in again and enter the code right away.

“Too many attempts. Please try again later.”

Bookly shows this page when there have been too many requests. Wait a little and open the sign-in page again.

“We could not confirm you are human. Refresh the page and try again.”

Sign-in automatically checks that a person is signing in. Refresh the page and sign in again.

“Too many attempts. Request a new code.”

This happens when you confirm a new email address or phone number and enter a wrong code several times in a row. Request a new code and enter it.

“Too many codes requested. Try again later.”

While changing your email or phone number, you requested too many codes in a row. Wait and try again later.
