After 6 wrong codes within a day, Bookly locks code sign-in: first for an hour, the second time for a day. Your password works as usual, and signing in with it lifts the lock straight away.

The third time within 30 days, code sign-in stays locked until you next sign in with your password or with Google, Facebook or Apple.

How to lift the lock

  1. On the sign-in page, enter your email, username or phone and click “Continue”.
  2. Enter your password instead of a code. Signing in with your password lifts the lock straight away; signing in with Google, Facebook or Apple does the same.
  3. Don’t remember the password? Reset it with “Forgot your password or username?”.
  4. If someone else was entering the codes, change your password once you’re in and check your active sessions.

You can also simply wait: the first lock lasts an hour, the second one a day.

If something goes wrong

“Code login is temporarily unavailable after several failed attempts.”

In full: “Code login is temporarily unavailable after several failed attempts. Sign in with your password or try again later.” The message is the same for any email address, even one with no account behind it — so nobody can find out which addresses are registered with Bookly. Sign in with your password and code sign-in works again.

The “Code login temporarily locked” email

This email goes to your account address when code sign-in is locked. Under the heading “We noticed suspicious activity”, it says how long the lock lasts: a number of hours or “until your next password login”. If it wasn’t you entering the codes, change your password and review your active sessions in the security settings.

Never forward codes from your emails to anyone: Bookly support never asks for them.

“Code confirmation is temporarily unavailable after several failed attempts. Please try again later.”

A similar lock happens when you confirm a new email address or phone number and enter a wrong code several times in a row. Wait and try again later.
