The CRM is view-only: why and what to do

The CRM turns view-only when your plan couldn’t be checked, the account is suspended, or the salon’s plan has no CRM — Basic, Pro and Team all include it, so that only happens with a plan set up by the Bookly team. On Basic the CRM works, with Basic’s limits.

The CRM turns view-only when your plan couldn’t be checked, the account is suspended, or the salon’s plan has no CRM — Basic, Pro and Team all include it, so that only happens with a plan set up by the Bookly team. On Basic the CRM works, with Basic’s limits.

Who can fix it

The salon owner chooses and pays for the plan, and access levels are changed by the owner or by Full access. If you’re an employee, show the salon owner the message you see.

How to tell what happened

Find the message you see at the top of the CRM or in a notice:

  • “View-only CRM.” — the plan doesn’t include the CRM, see below.
  • “The CRM is view-only for now.” — your plan couldn’t be checked, see below.
  • “Account suspended” or “The salon’s account is suspended” — see below.
  • “View only: your access level does not include changing bookings.” — it’s your access level, see below.
  • “This specialist is over your plan’s limit…” or “The limit of 30 bookings a month is used up…” — the salon is on Basic, see below.
  • “Team is paid for … seats, but you have … staff members.” — not enough paid seats, see below.

If something doesn’t work

“View-only CRM.”

The full message: “View-only CRM. Your plan doesn’t include working in the CRM, so the data is view-only.” When you try to change something: “The CRM is view-only on your plan. Upgrade to Pro to make changes.”

The CRM is part of Basic, Pro and Team, so this message appears only when the salon is on a plan without the CRM — a plan only the Bookly team can set up or grant — or when no plan was found at all. Your data is all there: you can see it but not change it. The salon owner can click “Upgrade to Pro” and pick a plan with the CRM. If the plan was granted by the Bookly team, contact support. Write any time — we reply during working hours.

“The CRM is view-only for now.”

The full message: “The CRM is view-only for now. We couldn’t check your plan. Reload in a minute — your data is safe.” When you try to change something: “Could not check your plan — changes are temporarily unavailable. Try again in a minute.”

The CRM briefly couldn’t check your plan. Nothing is lost — reload the page in a minute. If the message stays, contact support. Write any time — we reply during working hours.

“Account suspended”

The owner sees: “Account suspended. You can view and export your data, but changes are unavailable. Contact support to restore access.” An employee sees: “The salon’s account is suspended. You can view the data, but changes are unavailable. Contact the salon owner.”

Your data is there, and the owner can export it. To restore access, the owner needs to contact support. Write any time — we reply during working hours. Employees should contact the salon owner.

“View only: your access level does not include changing bookings.”

This isn’t about the plan: your access level is Viewer, which only lets you look. Ask the salon owner to change your level — see Staff access levels in the CRM.

After the trial, a downgrade or a missed payment

When the Team trial ends or a payment is missed, the salon moves to Basic — after 7 days of grace for a missed payment. The CRM keeps working, with Basic’s limits:

  • 30 bookings a month; cancelled ones count too, and the counter resets on the 1st;
  • one specialist. The others are marked “Over plan limit”: “This specialist is over your plan’s limit: new bookings for them are unavailable. Archive the extra specialists or upgrade to the Team plan.”;
  • staff access to the CRM is paused — see The salon’s plan doesn’t include staff access to the CRM;
  • the professional mode of Finance is on Pro and Team, and payroll is on Team.

If the owner switched from Team to Pro, bookings are unlimited, but there’s still one specialist and no staff access.

What to do: to lift the bookings limit, choose Pro or Team; for several specialists, Team. The salon owner does this. Or archive the extra specialists. How bookings are counted is explained in 30 bookings a month on Basic.

“Team is paid for … seats, but you have … staff members.”

For example: “Team is paid for 3 seats, but you have 4 staff members. Buy seats or archive the extra ones.” Your Team plan is active, but there are fewer paid seats than staff — for example, the payment for extra seats didn’t come through. No new booking can be made for the people you added last, neither in the CRM nor in online booking.

Buy seats on the Staff page or archive people who no longer work with you — see Seats on the Team plan.

  • An employee leaves: turn off access, archive or delete

    Turn off the employee’s CRM access: they lose it at once on every device. A card with bookings or payroll history isn’t deleted but archived, so the history stays and the card no longer takes a seat.
